Two Coronation Street characters exit the Street as Tyrone wants Evelyn out of his life

Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in Coronation Street has been left in a state of disbelief after learning that his mother Cassie (Claire Sweeney) is still alive.

He cut Cassie and Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) out of his life as a result of the revelation.

In tonight’s (August 18) episode, however, his curiosity got the best of him, and he went over to question his mother about her disappearance all those years ago.

Cassie confessed in tearful scenes that following his birth, she moved to South Africa with a lover who turned out to be very controlling and barred her from visiting her family in the UK.

She went on to say that she had become a “total mess,” but that this was primarily due to Evelyn.

She revealed that she began drinking at the age of 12 and was already doing narcotics by the age of 15. She attributed this to being a shy youngster raised by fighting parents.

Cassie walked away. Tyrone was taken aback when she stated that Evelyn had blamed her for her father’s brain hemorrhage, alleging that the stress she had caused him was to blame.

When Tyrone couldn’t figure out why she would abandon him, Cassie disclosed that Evelyn had lied to him about not wanting him.

When Evelyn arrived and dropped the news that Cassie would be moving in with Tyrone to get to know him better, it was evident that she had won him over.

Evelyn was worried that Cassie would be sharing a room with Hope and Ruby (Isabella Flanagan and Billie Naylor), but Tyrone convinced her that they were going to see Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) in Norwich.

Despite her displeasure, she was relieved to be able to keep an eye on them both under one roof.

Tyrone, on the other hand, had other intentions, insisting that Evelyn was not welcome.

Evelyn warned that Tyrone was making a huge mistake, but Tyrone was determined to find out for himself.

Cassie settled in at Tyrone’s when Hope and Ruby were waved off to Norwich, while Evelyn confided in Roy Cropper (David Neilson).

Roy, ever the voice of reason, pointed out that he understood Tyrone’s point of view, but that Evelyn had simply lied to protect him.

Evelyn added that she feared Cassie was still taking drugs and planned to take advantage of Tyrone’s generosity.

Cassie grabbed into her bag while trying to keep the contents hidden from Tyrone, proving Evelyn’s suspicions right.

There was a box of prescription medicines inside. Are they prescribed to her, or is Evelyn correct?
