TOWIE’s Lucy Mecklenburgh shares heartbreak over son Roman’s health setback

Having her little son require daily medication and an inhaler due to a health concern, former The Only Way Is Essex star Lucy Mecklenburgh has opened up about her anguish.

Roman, a two-year-old who was discovered “blue in his cot,” was rushed to the hospital last year by the 30-year-old former reality TV favorite.

The toddler was put on a ventilator in intensive care and was diagnosed with a problem earlier this year that caused fluids he drank to get into his lungs, she told Instagram Stories viewers.

The infant had a videofluroscopy, an X-ray obtained while the patient drinks fluid, and is now in need of a special thickening rather than thin liquids to treat the condition.

With the caption “After a really good few months with Roman got a diagnosis & on the thickened fluids,” Lucy posted a picture of her son’s medication and inhaler.

He has a slight wheeze and cough, so she said, “We are back here, but even if we avoid going to a&e, it’s still a win.”

The actress, who has Roman with her fiancé Ryan Thomas, 37, reportedly stated about her son’s hospitalization earlier this year: “It was to check that there wasn’t any fluid when he drinks going down the wrong route and into his lungs.

“I kept working because I genuinely believed it wouldn’t show that, and he accompanied Ryan.

“I want to be at all the appointments, and Ryan called me and said it was indicating there is fluid entering his lungs,” she continued. I have a strange reaction to it because I feel bad for Roman.”

After Ryan and Lucy announced the name of their second child, a girl born in May, they provided an update on Roman.

Along with a photo of the infant, she posted the following on Instagram: “Yay!! I have a name at last! Thomas, Lilah Rae”

Ryan, a former cast member of Coronation Street and a Celebrity Big Brother winner, and Lucy have been dating since 2017. Ryan proposed to Lucy two years later during a romantic trip to Italy.

Ryan and his wife had Roman in March 2020; their oldest child, Scarlett, was born 13 years previously during a previous relationship. Roman is Ryan’s third child.
