Get your heart rate up.
Season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy will premiere in just over two months.
When your favorite medical drama goes on hiatus for the summer, it’s always a bummer, and while we can’t claim its return is imminent, at least we now know Grey’s has a definitive return date.
Season 18 will premiere on ABC in the United States on September 30 at 9 p.m. ET, according to the show’s official Instagram account.
Given how close Ellen Pompeo’s decision to return for a new season was, the fact that Grey’s Anatomy is back at all this year is arguably a little miracle.
Krista Vernoff, the showrunner, said that she had to create two versions of the season 17 finale in case it turned out to be the final episode.
In May, ABC announced that Grey’s Anatomy had been renewed for season 18, as well as the spin-off Station 19, for a fifth season.
“The writers, directors, casts, and crews of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 worked so hard to bring both series to life this past season,” Vernoff said in a statement.
“It’s been a challenge and an honor to keep each other safe on set while paying tribute to the frontline heroes and first responders.” I’ve been completely blown away by our dedicated crews as they reimagined the television-making wheel. Thank you to ABC and ABC Signature for their incredible support and partnership throughout this historic season.
“We are overjoyed at the prospect of telling additional stories.”
Season 17 of Grey’s Anatomy airs on ABC in the United States on Sky Witness in the United Kingdom, with select episodes also available on NOW. Seasons 1 through 16 is available to watch on Disney+.
