Major Coronation Street star quits ITV soap as fans demand he’s brought back

As fans clamor for him to stay on the cobbles, Coronation Street star Jamie Kenna has announced his departure from the ITV soap opera.
The actor thanked his “wonderful, devoted” audience in a video that he posted on the official Coronation Street TikTok account while standing in front of the antique store where he first met Fiz a year ago.
He continued by saying he felt honored to have had a hand in the romance that reunited “the modern-day Jack and Vera.”
The actor was alluding to Fiz’s character leaving him soon after their wedding so that she could start dating Tyrone again.
“I just wanted to come on here and say a tremendous, massive thank you to all of you for the love and support for me and Phill over this last year,” he said in a message to the crowd.
“I’ve had a great time. I adore both this setting and this program. How exciting it has been for big Phill.
The figure might come back at some point in the future, he said, but for now it was time to leave.
Who knows, perhaps this is not the end. They might bring him back. But for now, it’s a heartfelt farewell from me, and one again, I just want to thank everyone at Corrie for tuning in, watching, and supporting me.
On Reddit, fans started expressing their shock over the news. One user gushed: “I know it’s the nature of the show and all that, but I guess we should’ve known when Phill never actually bought a flat or anything on the street.
“With very, very few exceptions, it’s pretty much an unwritten rule that anyone living on the streets is only doing it temporarily.
“That’s terribly bad since I really did adore him.
“I’m just holding onto the hope when he says ‘Maybe he’ll be back,'” a second echoed. Keep Phill, Corrie producers—I know you’re in here someplace! Give him a salary like Ken Barlow!
The celebrity will eventually return to Weatherfield, according to a third.
“I think he’ll be back, but it might take a while since we know it takes a lot to plan with scripts and other things, and I know he has a panto gig in Crewe. I’d think that Phill has grown in popularity, and I’m sure that many of us want to see him happy.
