Kelly McCreary, who stars on Grey’s Anatomy, disclosed she is expecting a child in an Instagram post to her fans.
Kelly made the announcement on Monday (August 16) by posting a photo of herself holding a positive pregnancy test. Kelly and her companion Pete Chatmon stood together in a second photo, pointing to jewelry on her chest that read “Hot Mama.”
“When late arriving on time…” In the description of her Instagram post, Kelly wrote: “Surprise! WE ARE EXPECTING A BABY! Pete and I are overjoyed to be expanding our family and to be able to share the news with you!”
Pete also shared the message on his social media accounts, writing: “This is my all-time favorite Monday post. I’m really looking forward to expanding our family and adding Dad to my resume.”
This will be the couple’s first child after meeting on the set of Grey’s Anatomy in 2017. They announced their engagement in January 2019 and married in May of the same year.
Many of Kelly’s followers and friends expressed their condolences in the comments section, as did some members of the Grey’s Anatomy family.
Ellen Pompeo kept it simple with a string of clapping hands emojis in her response. “Congratulations!!!!!” Martin Henderson responded, with James Pickens Jr. adding a red heart. “Congratulations you guys!!!!” wrote Jeanine Mason, while Jake Borelli said, “So crazy excited for you two!” and Sarah Drew said, “I love you guys so much!!!!”.
Jaina Ortiz also commented on the announcement saying: “Ahhhhh omg CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I’m THRILLED for you both!!!”, while Stefania Spampinato wrote: “Wooooooow!! Congratulations!!!”.
The official Shondaland account also shared a few words: “CONGRATS!!!!!! Sending so much love to you, @petechatmon, and Motown on your growing family!!!!!”
From the Orange Is The New Black family, Danielle Brooks wrote: “Congrats so exciting” with Lauren Lapkus adding “Ahh yay!! Congratulations!”
The Hot To Get Away With Murder lot also shared their love with Aja Naomi King typing out: “AYAYAYAYAYAYAYA” with a string of hearts and Amirah Vann adding “Yay!!!! Sending you so much love.”
Grace Byers of Empire wrote: “Yayyyyyyyyy I’m sending you all my best wishes.” Meanwhile, Marvel’s Simone Missick had this to say: “Amazing!!!!” Francia Rasa, star of Grown-ish, added: “AAAAAHHHH!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I’m ecstatic for you two!!!”
