Samantha Giles of Emmerdale referred to the soap opera’s decision to kill off a beloved character in 2015 as a “mistake.”
Samantha, who plays Bernice Blackstock, made the admission while discussing planned storylines for Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary. The actor, who has spent the previous 15 years residing in Merseyside, stated that she believes Val Pollard’s “wonderful” death was an error on the part of the producers.
Val and Diane Sugden were imprisoned in a hall of mirrors in August 2015 when an explosion caused a helicopter to crash into the village hall.
Later, the hall of mirrors fell and the chopper caught fire. A piece of glass that Val was impaling when Diane was saved instantaneously killed Val.
Samantha was upset to learn that the figure had passed away, according to LeedsLive. “I think Val was wonderful, she was such a fabulous character,” the woman remarked. She was unique among the other characters on the show, so in my opinion, it was a mistake to kill her.
“She ought to be included, in my opinion. Why did they kill her? She was amazing.
