ITV Emmerdale Faith Dingle star’s surprising age, mystery partner and exit date
Sally Dexter is renowned as an Emmerdale legend.
In 2017, she debuted as Faith Dingle in the storied soap opera. Gillian Gephcott had previously portrayed Shadrach Dingle’s ex-wife before Sally took over.
After returning to the fictitious Yorkshire community, she took up the role and played Faith throughout some of Emmerdale’s most tragic storylines. Faith left the Yorkshire Dales in 2019 after it was discovered that she had shoved Kim Tate off her balcony at Home Farm. The feisty matriarch vowed to exact retribution.
After receiving a terminal cancer diagnosis, Sally returned her role as Faith in 2021, and she is now involved in a touching plot.
As previously reported by the ECHO, Faith’s departure will serve as the official start of Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary festivities in October.
“At the beginning of the month, we will be focusing on our Faith storyline, which is a huge storyline for us right now,” executive producer Jane Hudson stated.
Jeff Hordley portrays Cain Dingle, Sally’s on-screen son. Fans of the program might be surprised to learn that Sally, who is 62 years old off-screen, is just 10 years younger than Jeff, who is 52.
Jeff has previously expressed his sorrow over Sally’s departure to the ECHO. “My character is connected in the Faith tale,” he declared.
Although I’m personally heartbroken by the passing of the magnificent Sally Dexter, it will allow for some fantastic future stories.
“That’s all I know, and I look forward to doing that.” Sally has given her exit strategy high acclaim.
She uttered: “(The leaving tale) is, in my opinion, fantastic. Although I haven’t seen the scripts for her passing, I’m hoping for the best outcome possible. This is a larger family story rather than just a cancer story.”
Sally keeps her private life out of the spotlight when she’s not working in the entertainment industry. She did, however, confirm to The Daily Star that when she initially began working on the serial, she was already residing in London with her unnamed long-term partner.
