Following the recent filming of her final scenes, former co-star Millie Gibson received a heartfelt note from Coronation Street actor Adam Hussain.
After three years, the actress who portrays Kelly Neelan is leaving the ITV soap opera, and her emotional departure will be broadcast this month as part of a special “Super Soap Week.”
After the couple recently got engaged, Adam, who portrays Aadi Alahan on Corrie, will have a part to play in her ending plot.
When the teenagers decided to pretend to be a soon-to-be married couple in order to enter a competition called Win A Dream Wedding where the prize was a trip overseas, that is when they realized their genuine feelings for one another.
Aadi and Kelly chose to postpone their wedding till they are 18 after encountering resistance from their family and learning that they were going to elope to Gretna Green.
However, viewers will watch Kelly purchase one-way tickets for her and Aadi to Bangkok in forthcoming scenes when she hires a hitman to kill her guardian Gary Windass after learning that he was the one who killed her dad, Rick.
However, Kelly’s plot to have Gary killed after learning he was to blame for her father Rick’s death three years prior goes horribly wrong, putting both Gary and Kelly in danger and their lives hanging in the balance over the Manchester skyline. As a result, their engagement party is about to turn horrifying.
As Corrie moves up its Super Soap Week to September, Adam was able to tease the major scenes to come.
The serial went all out for the scenes, traveling to RecodeXR Studio in Trafford Park to film with specialized gear used for blockbuster films like Avengers and the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. Iain thinks that they are the first soap drama to employ this amazing technology.
As he described what it was like to film the sequences, Adam hinted that he would take part in a stunt of his own. He said to the Manchester Evening News and other press: “I think it’s wonderful. Simply working on such a fantastic storyline and plot, being able to perform stunts thanks to the cameras, a big green screen, and volume barriers used in Hollywood movies, and being able to use those tools while having an outstanding crew.
“Everyone who contributed to that was incredible. It was, in my opinion, one of my best photo shootings. In the end, everything appears very amazing. When it airs on TV, I can’t wait to watch it.
The soap star responded to a question about working with Millie and what he’ll miss by saying: “Because Millie is such a truly exceptional performer, I adore working with her. I will miss her as a friend and as a coworker since she is really good and just a very nice person. But my best wishes go out to her.”
Adam was one of the famous faces that millie’s co-stars squeezed into a bar in Salford Quays for their star-studded farewell celebration. Favorite characters from soap operas were photographed last month as they arrived to The Alchemist on the waterfront under glorious skies.
18-year-old Broadbottom resident Millie wore a chic long black dress and sandals as she made her way to her farewell party alongside many of her soap opera friends. That featured Colson Smith, who plays PC Craig Tinker, Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan, and Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Habeeb. Actor Mikey North, Kelly’s “father figure” for Gary, was seen leaving the farewell party.
The leaving Corrie actor also got to get a preview of her final scenes last week.
Tanisha Gorey, who plays Asha Alahan in the ITV soap opera Corrie, and Pat Lally, who plays the bad boy Kieron, who Kelly naively trusts with her intentions to oust Gary despite the fact that he recently kidnapped her, were both present.
T-shirts with the promo photo of Millie, Mikey, and Adam on them were given to Millie. The shot had the words “SSW 2022” printed over it, and Millie obviously found it moving because she posted it to her Instagram Stories with the caption “Amazing” and a sobbing face emoji.
She delighted at the exclusive showing inside the Bistro and thereafter expressed how she was “overwhelmed” by the event. I’m really happy for you all to watch the upcoming episodes of the “Super soap week” for @coronation street, but I’m very overloaded right now,” she said.
“The actors, staff, and our incredible director Dave Beauchamp did an AMAZING job. I’m overwhelmed by the honor and cannot thank you enough. Always in love, always appreciative.”
