ITV Coronation Street star Ellie Leach pays tribute as co-star dies

Ellie Leach, a co-star on ITV’s Coronation Street, has paid tribute to her late co-star Duggie Brown. On Instagram, Ellie posted a photo of the pair working together.

She penned: “Let Duggie Brown rest in peace. In the brief time I had the opportunity to work with you, you made me laugh a lot. I will always cherish it because it was such a delight! Many people will greatly miss you.”

On the ITV program earlier this year, the soap star portrayed Ted Spear. After Faye Windass hit him with her car to launch Emma Brooker’s leaving plot, his character was a part of one of the show’s key plotlines.

Actor and comedian Duggie Brown was described as a “funny funny man” by Doc Martin star Martin Clunes.

The 2002 thriller A Is For Acid, which was inspired on the life of serial killer John George Haigh, stars Clunes and Brown, who passed away at the age of 82.

“Duggie was a great funny funny man who made me laugh and giggle even when I was meant to be concentrating on playing a mass killer,” Clunes told the PA news agency.

“It is with such a heavy heart that I can confirm the news that the very gifted comedian and actor Duggie Brown passed away this morning, with his wife Jackie at his side,” Duggie Brown’s representative said in a separate statement to the PA news agency.

“Working with Duggie has been a real honor since he is kind, kind, and always enthusiastic about what the business has in store for him. A natural entertainer who cherished his career… a contagious smile that will live forever in our memories.”
