The celebrity was raised in Nottingham and received his education at New College and the Central Junior Television Workshop.

She had an audition for the part of Charity, the trouble-making cousin played by Emma Atkins, before landing the role of Chas.

In a prior interview with Inside Soap, Lucy stated: “I had previously gone through auditions for two different roles: Charity and a truck driver. I narrowed it down to three for that.

“I had theatre courses with James Hooton, who plays Sam Dingle, and when he told me, “Apparently you did something weird with your head in the audition and that put them off!” I thought, “Oh gosh!”

“Then he phoned me and said there was a rumor they were bringing in another Dingle woman; they wanted her to be somewhat like Charity, but they were thinking about my audition and crafting it around it,” she continued. So I was aware of Chas’ strength and tenacity.

She was a member of the band Paperdolls, which performed on tour with Boyzone in the 1990s. She also played Emma Bunton in the movie Stars in Their Eyes.
