Fans of Coronation Street may recall that Bill Kenwright made his ITV soap opera debut back in 1968.

His personality Before Bill made the decision to depart and work on other projects, Gordon Clegg had been on the Street for a year.

Who did Bill Kenwright play in Coronation Street?

Gordon Clegg was portrayed by Bill Kenwright in Coronation Street from 1968 to 1969 and sporadically thereafter until 1995.

Geoffrey Leesley filled the role for the two guest appearances in 2002 and 2004.

But once Gordon’s mother Betty passed away in 2012, Bill returned to the role for the subsequent episodes.

Over the course of his twelve months on the soap opera, Gordon took part in several significant plotlines, including residing in the apartment above the Corner Shop with his aunt Maggie and her husband Les.

He then started dating Lucille Hewitt, and the two even discussed getting married.

Gordon called off the wedding after passing his accountancy exams and moved to London after deciding he didn’t want to wed her.

What else has Bill Kenwright been in?

Blood Brothers and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, two long-running West End blockbusters, made Bill one of the UK’s most successful theater producers.

He briefly worked as a recording artist in the late 1960s, but this didn’t last long. In the middle of the 1970s, he stopped working as a full-time actor in favor of concentrating on the theater.

Other productions have included West End runs of This Is Elvis, The Big Life, Elmina’s Kitchen, Scrooge – The Musical, Whistle Down the Wind at the Palace Theatre, and Scrooge – The Musical.

Along with creating plays, Bill has aided several contemporary West End producers in launching their careers, and the Theatrical Management Association honored him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.

Where is Bill Kenwright now?

The 77-year-old legend runs Bill Kenwright Records, a record company that has put out three albums.

Bill successfully took over Everton Football Club in 1999, and he was named chairman in 2004.

From 1978 to 1980, Bill was married to the actress Anouska Hempel. Subsequently, he dated Virginia Stride, with whom he has a daughter and two grandkids.

He is presently living in London with the actress Jenny Seagrove, with whom he has a long-term relationship.
