With an upcoming storyline featuring Honey and Billy Mitchell’s daughter Janet, EastEnders has announced its intentions to investigate the negative consequences of online trolling on television.

Honey (Emma Barton) and Billy (Perry Fenwick), who are still at odds due to the former’s current relationship with Jay (Jamie Borthwick), clash when the latter points out how much time Janet (Grace) spends on her phone in scenes scheduled to air next week.

His initial remark in the café sparks a discussion about the youngster’s growing social media following, making their son Will (Freddie Phillips) feel left out.

Later, Honey is taken aback when she receives a phone call telling her that Will has been in a fight, and when she goes to pick him up, things just get worse when he reveals that he just got into the fight because Amy (Abbie Burke) had been spreading false information about Janet all over the internet, and he was defending his sister.

When she tells Billy what has happened, he explodes, determined to scold Amy’s father, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen). Honey, on the other hand, demands that he calm down first and concentrate on Janet’s well-being.

Will stands by his mother and tells Billy that they must act like adults in this situation.

However, in a later episode, Honey takes matters into her own hands and confronts Amy about the trolling, although politely, to which Amy responds with a half-hearted apology.
