Hollyoaks wins Best Continuing Drama at RTS Awards

The RTS awards have announced that Hollyoaks has won Best Continuing Drama.

Coronation Street and Casualty, both on Channel 4, competed with the Channel 4 soap.

The judges said the show ‘continues to be loved by its vast and dedicated fanbase,’ adding that it ‘constantly explores new story areas and fresh, relevant tales.’

‘Huge congrats to Team @Hollyoaks,’ Hollyoaks’ official Twitter account wrote.

‘At the @RTS media Awards, we just won best ongoing drama.’

Fans were quick to congratulate the team, with many stating that the victory was “earned.”

‘Congratulations everyone,’ wrote Coronation Street’s Twitter account.

In a video shared to the RTS Awards’ official accounts, actress Kelle Bryan, who plays Martine Deveraux, shouted, “We are totally over the moon.”

‘We’ve attended so many award shows where we’ve had to perform the wonderful polite clap! So we were like, “What?” when we heard Hollyoaks tonight. Sorry? Are you serious?

‘What Hollyoaks does so fearlessly and gallantly is that we truly do challenge social change, and that’s one of the things that soaps excel at.

‘They don’t avoid challenging themes.’

Kelle also thanked the show’s make-up artists, producers, and directors, stating they couldn’t have done it without them.

Hollyoaks, you’ve made it!
