On Valentine’s Day in 2021, Gorka Marquez proposed to Gemma Atkinson, but the former soap star has stated the couple is not eager to be married.

Following her encounter with Spanish professional dancer Gorka on Strictly in 2017, Gemma underwent a number of life changes, including becoming engaged, a mother of two, and giving up her acting career.

The Hits Radio host has now explained why she hasn’t yet tied the knot and why she won’t be going back to the soap operas where she first rose to stardom.

Gemma, who recently gave birth to her son Thiago, clarified her wedding intentions in an interview with OK! Magazine by saying: “Let me fit in my dress first!”

“We’re quite chilled with it all,” she continued. There are two of us. I don’t really give a damn about white weddings.

“We’ll be content with a nice little quiet affair with friends and family.”

The fitness fanatic previously stated to New Magazine that she and Gorka are delaying their weddings because of his busy Strictly schedule and lack of time to organize a wedding.

After her maternity leave is up, Gemma continued by saying she won’t be looking for new acting jobs since she prefers to conduct her Hits Radio show and build her brand instead.

The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor admitted, “I don’t think I will [return to acting].”

I have the podcast and the radio, she continued. I have everything related to my fitness and brand, In The Style.

“The hours are so long; I wouldn’t do soaps again.

“I’ve reached a point where I can be a little pickier now. I feel like I’ve accomplished everything because I’ve been an actor full-time since I was 15 years old.

In Hollyoaks and its three spin-off series, Hollyoaks: Let Loose, Hollyoaks: In the City, Gemma portrayed Lisa Hunter.

Before managing to balance her broadcast schedule and acting career became too challenging to handle, she also portrayed Carly Hope in Emmerdale and Tamzin Bayle in Casualty.
