Emmerdale’s Mary Goskirk left devastated in revenge porn storyline

In the episode of Emmerdale airing on Wednesday, July 19, Mary Goskirk has been crushed by a horrifying revenge porn attack.

Mary first intended to go to the police, lie, and then retract her statement against Faye Helders, her longtime love interest who turned out to be a con artist.

After learning that Marlon Dingle is aware of the blackmail and feeling betrayed by Rhona—who had gone through a very similar experience herself—they soon patched things up when Rhona assured her that she had her back no matter what decision she made about the statement.

April Windsor, a little girl who just entered the conversation, said that Mary’s stories about how she had assisted others in speaking their truth and obtaining justice had motivated her to become a journalist when she grew up.

April added, “Everyone in school knows I’ve got the coolest grandma ever,” which made Mary feel awful about her decision to tell the authorities a falsehood.

After some internal debate, Mary found the strength to abandon the idea, yet when she went to meet Faye, she told a falsehood to get her to erase the photo.

The police arrived as the blackmailer began to leave, and although Faye tried to get out of the situation, Mary disclosed that she had been recording their conversation on her phone, including the confession of blackmail. Faye was led away by the cops as they laughed that Mary wouldn’t get away with it.

Mary went to the Woolpack to rejoice with her loved ones after feeling tremendous relief at regaining control over her life.

At that point, the message with Mary’s naked photo was broadcast simultaneously to everyone in the bar. Mary descended into terror and despair as everyone in the hamlet, including April, unintentionally seen her at her most vulnerable.
