Emmerdale theory: Val Pollard returns for 50th anniversary in epic soap twist
As Diane Sugden’s sister and Eric Pollard’s wife, Val, one of Emmerdale’s most adored characters, lived in the community from 2004 to 2015.

As part of the show’s 43rd anniversary episodes, viewers of the ITV soap opera were devastated to learn that the character was a victim of the helicopter crash that nearly destroyed the hamlet.
It appears that every effort is being made to make the upcoming 50th anniversary one to remember, which may involve raising Val from the grave.
The producers of the second-longest running soap opera in the UK have already stated that certain well-known characters will appear in the milestone episodes.
There are many characters that are still living who may return, but bringing a character back from the dead can give an additional element of surprise.
It wouldn’t be the first time the program had brought a character back from the dead; Lisa Dingle (Jane Cox) and others have allegedly made contact with their living relatives.
Since the 50th anniversary’s finer details are now under wraps, Val’s reappearance might remain a secret until transmission.
The actress who plays Bernice Blackstock, Samantha Giles, is one individual who wants to see their former co-star return to the set.
Although they didn’t spend much time together on-screen, Samantha still has a lot of admiration for Bernice, Val’s niece.
“I think Val was wonderful, she was such a fabulous character,” the soap opera star said. On the program, she was the only one of her kind.
“And in my perspective, I think it was a mistake to kill her. She should still be there, in my opinion. Why did they kill her? She was amazing. In an interview with The Daily Star, she stated.
In response to requests for her return, Val might appear on screen beside her late husband Eric once more as a ghost.
In the week leading up to the anniversary, Eric’s late wife might be able to provide some consolation as he struggles in the coming months with Faith Dingle’s (Sally Dexter) passing.
The scenes between Eric and Val might be much calmer than the other action-packed sequences because the rest of the community is involved in different plot lines.
Faith will be fine, Val could promise her husband, and she won’t be in any pain or on her own ever.
As they converse, Eric might express to his former partner how much he misses her and how, in light of the impending loss of another person he loves, he has been thinking about her more than ever.
It wouldn’t be Val’s first time making a ghostly appearance; she did so on Christmas Day of 2017 as a part of Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) plot.
A special episode focusing solely on them could turn out to be an essential part of the anniversary celebrations because she didn’t get to spend much time with her lover.
Regarding her appearance on the program again in 2017, Charlie outlined: “I was happy to come home, but it seemed like a mixture of everything.
“Early in the morning, I entered the cafeteria at the remote village and saw all the people I used to work with every day.
All the folks you had forgotten how much you adored, including the props teams, sparks, camera, and sound crews. I was therefore little moved, and it was lovely because everyone was hugging me and I felt incredibly pampered.
She continued, describing how it felt to return: “My overwhelming feeling of the day was how much I adore and how much I miss it.
It was a tremendous delight to be able to relive it all again, even though I know I made the correct choice in leaving. When I returned after ten minutes, it was as if I had never been away, and I was in charge.
Charlie told Digital Spy, “It was wonderful to be there, it was really wonderful, and it was a treat and a great luxury to get the chance to go back and meet folks one more time after her passing.”
This time, I actually had the opportunity to bid farewell without actually going.
Less than a year later, in 2018, the actress made a suggestion that she would eventually make another return to the show.
“I kind of assumed my dance was done at the end of Emmerdale, but no, that tiny bit came back when I was on Emmerdale last Christmas,” Charlie said.
“You know what, I thought? I enjoy this. I would be there right away if you pitched the story “She reportedly spoke to HELLO!
The former soap opera star also discussed her motivations for wanting to put the role in the past in 2015.
Chuck remarked: “It took me many, many, many months of argument and consideration to conclude that perhaps I was simply ill.
“Or maybe I just needed to gather myself, but I believe I realized I had to leave—not because I detest it, but rather because I need to try to reclaim some of my life.
