Emmerdale theory: Secret village wedding unveiled as beloved characters reunite

On Emmerdale, Laurel Thomas and Jai Sharma haven’t exactly had the most traditional of romances.

Before they combined their two families and dealt with Arthur Thomas’s bullying of Archie Breckle, their romance was initially kept a secret.

When it appeared like Jai’s history was catching up with him, the couple on Emmerdale broke things off earlier this year. However, it appears that things will turn out better in upcoming scenes on the ITV soap.

The drama carries on after Laurel learned in last week’s episodes that her toyboy lover, Kit (Thoren Ferguson), was having an affair with her stepdaughter, Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).

At Marlon’s (Mark Charnock) and Rhona’s (Zo Henry) wedding reception, Jai intervened and attacked Kit when the secret was revealed.

Laurel seemed to see the part of him she fell in love with despite the fact that this wasn’t the best course of action because of his activities.

She quickly lost any concerns that he was a drug addict since she understood how hard he was trying to stay on track.

The adored pair decides to give their romance another shot, which sets up well for the episodes that will air the following week.

They make the decision to move slowly but deliberately in order to return to where they once were.

They choose to assemble their kids and explain what is going to happen rather than keeping their romance a secret.

After the death of his father, Ashley Thomas (John Middleton), Arthur has grown to view Jai more as a father figure, and he is overjoyed by this development.

The mixed family appears to be moving forward with nothing but optimism, but Jai could want to go further.

He may propose to Laurel by the end of next week if he knows he wants to be with her forever, and they could schedule their wedding for the end of the month.

The couple may elect to have a small wedding with just their children present if they don’t want a huge celebration.

The neighbors would congratulate them on becoming man and wife as they returned to the village as a married couple.

It appears like this could be just the boost the Thomas/Sharma family needs after all the suffering of recent months.

But since this is a soap opera, there won’t be much quiet for long, so when will the man and wife encounter yet another challenge?

Will marriage have prevented them from failing, or will they look back in a few months and realize they made a grave error?

The character of Laurel’s connection with Jai and whether or not they are intended to be together have been discussed by Charlotte, the actress who plays her.

When Charlotte talked, her alter ego had just learned that her lover had taken out a loan in her name, preventing her from purchasing the home she currently resides in.

Laurel had enough when Jai was discovered with drugs on him that actually belonged to Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi).

It seems they would never have another chance, as Charlotte explains: “I really don’t see how they can recover from this.

She told Express.co.uk and other media, “I think when the trust is shattered she starts looking back at what she had previously.”

Charlotte threw in: “She develops intense nostalgia. We talk about his dad and other topics in the scenes we’re currently filming with Alfie [who portrays Arthur], and I think it’s understandable why it’s upset her so much.

Who knows what the future holds in terms of that?

People constantly break up and come back together in a soap opera. You just follow instructions,” she said.

This indicates that there was always a chance the pair may reconcile, but Chris, the actor who plays Jai, believed the couple’s romance was over.

Jai’s drug scandal prompted Chris to explain: “I think Jai feels disappointed in Laurel since she has her own troubles with being a recovering alcoholic.”

I’m not sure if it’s because Laurel wasn’t quite in favor of them reconciling in the first place, but it seems harsh that she isn’t showing more understanding, he continued.

“Laurel’s halo has occasionally started to slip a little. She hasn’t been as sympathetic or forgiving as usual.

“There have been a few instances where Laurel has been utterly rude to Jai.

“I don’t see Jai and Laurel getting back together,” says the author. “He pled his innocence and was sure about it, but she wouldn’t believe him.”

So will the couple’s wedding fully overcome the odds?
