Emmerdale spoilers: Rhona and Paddy struggle to deal with Marlon’s slow progress tonight

In tonight’s Emmerdale, Rhona (Zoe Henry) and Paddy (Dominic Brunt) face some difficult times as they try to cope with Marlon’s (Mark Charnock) stroke-related condition.

When Marlon meets with his speech therapist for the first time, Rhona is hopeful that he will soon be able to communicate with her and that this will be the beginning of his returning to her.

He struggles to create even the most basic phrases during the session, and it’s clear that he’s irritated and upset. Rhona despises seeing him like way, and when he appears to be giving up, she pushes him.

Rhona must be taken aside by a nurse who must inform her that she is placing too much pressure on Marlon and that he needs to progress at his own pace. Rhona is saddened that her actions may have caused him extra suffering, and she expresses her regret to him.
‘She feels dreadful,’ Zoe Henry said to Metro.co.uk about these scenes. She is taken aback at first, but then she realizes what is going on. She realizes she’s putting pressure on him when he doesn’t need it. It’ll be small steps, and he’ll do them at his own pace — he has to.’

Meanwhile, the Dingles are filming a video to send to Marlon, and Paddy, who has been struggling to cope with what has happened to his friend, succumbs to the strain and tapes an insufficient message.

Later, he comes across Rhona at a particularly low point and assures her that from now on, he will do more to help her and Marlon. Rhona, on the other hand, isn’t convinced. Is Paddy capable of stepping up?
