Charity and Cain Dingle (Emma Atkins and Cain Dingle) have always had a rocky relationship in Emmerdale, but their showdown this time could result in Charity’s death after Cain accidently knocked her to the ground in the Woolpack and caused her to smash her head.
Cain intended to assist sister Chas (Lucy Pargeter), who has been experiencing major financial difficulties keeping the pub going, and has had to accept the possibility of selling half to Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).
While Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) is adamantly opposed to the proposal and has unwillingly joined Kim Tate (Claire King) in a racehorse doping conspiracy, Cain had a less subtle plan and persuaded Aaron (Danny Miller) to distract Chas with lunch.
Chas was at her wits end after Cain knocked out the power, so she accepted Aaron’s offer, while Cain crept in, masked, and began emptying the till.
Charity caught him in the act and confronted him as he was loading a van with crates of spirits.
He dashed away, pushing her out of the way and failing to notice that he had seriously injured her.
Charity has been brought to the hospital, and Chas is now terrified since she has been told that her health is precarious due to a developing brain bleed.
Aaron was outraged as he made his way to the garage and found Cain with the stock, accusing him of murdering Charity.
Meanwhile, Chas has told PC Swirling that there have been issues with the pub’s management – would he suspect that this was an insurance inside job?
Could Al be implicated in the crime to cover Cain’s back, now that his offer has been reduced?
