In addition, ITV will air a documentary tracing Emmerdale’s history. “This one-off special documentary honouring 50 years of Emmerdale reveals the story of how a peaceful daytime afternoon soap about country residents became the award-winning, ratings-busting, peak-time drama that it is today,” a spokeswoman said.

“Viewers will enjoy a mix of engrossing vintage Emmerdale scenes and infrequently seen jewels from the vault.

From family disputes, fires, and fights to more humorous incidents from life on the farm and in the Emmerdale village.

They will appear alongside contributions from beloved cast members as Emmerdale’s past and present stars reminisce about their memorable storylines and share memories from over the years. The acclaimed cast will recall significant events from the previous 50 years thanks to a wealth of behind-the-scenes secrets and anecdotes.
