Emmerdale Gennie Walker star now – family tragedy, ‘taking risks’ and rival soap role

Genesis Walker, a beloved character on Emmerdale, was brutally murdered by the villainous Cameron Murray in 2013.

When Gennie was hurt in 2008 after being knocked off her moped by a car driven by Ross Kirk, she made her first appearance in the community.

To meet her biological father Shadrach Dingle for the first time, she had traveled to the village.

Gennie and Nikhil Sharma had a daughter, Molly Sharma, during their marriage, which lasted until Gennie’s passing.

Sian Reese-Williams, an actress, is still well-known despite leaving the ITV soap opera.

On the tenth anniversary of Gennie’s tragic passing, the Daily Star has published an intimate look at her life away from the spotlight.

Soap exit

After five seasons, Sian, 40, decided it was time to leave the show and made her announcement in May 2013.

The popular villager was suffocated by bad boy Cameron after a vehicle wreck, but Gennie’s exit wasn’t revealed until the episode that aired on July 25, 2013.

Gennie passed away in July, but she later made an appearance in a pre-recorded video on the show that aired on August 15, 2013.

In January 2019, Gennie’s adoptive mother Brenda Walker and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) made mention of her.

Family tragedy

Sian’s brother Llr experienced an epileptic fit in 2005, and it was later determined that he had an inoperable brain tumor.

When the tumor’s grade rose in June 2018, Sian made the decision to run the London Marathon in support of The Brain Tumor Charity that year.

In February 2019, Llr passed away, and the soap opera star shared the heartbreaking news with her followers on Twitter at the time.

She wrote: “We said goodbye to the love of my life, my hero, and my best friend yesterday. Llr, my sibling

“We sang, we danced, we laughed. Oh, the dancing. For this fantastic organization @BrainTumourOrg and in his honor, I’m running the London Marathon.

Sian finished the marathon and proudly showed off her medal while taking pictures with her followers.

Rival soap role

Sian announced her departure from the BBC soap opera Holby City last year.

The character was sectioned in front of the audience after her recently fatal vehicle accident caused her unborn child to die.

Sian announced on Twitter that an episode that aired in February 2021 was her final one as Jodie “Greetings, Holby. I had a fantastic time.”

Sian spent four months in the ongoing drama that has since been cancelled.

Line of Duty, Silent Witness, Hidden, and Hinterland are just a few of the actress’ other TV appearances.

Taking risks

Sian wrote a piece in March about the significance of understanding your value.

She talked openly about taking chances in her acting career.

It’s practically impossible to manage anything that comes your way, she wrote.

“Therefore, you learn to value the tiny things that you can control. Never be afraid to say no to something that doesn’t feel right.

“Neither the world nor your agent will end. In fact, you two have been completely in agreement anytime you have said no to something, which has improved your working relationship.

It’s liberating and empowering, and it gives you a boss-like feeling. Hold onto those moments, because they’ll be rare.”
