Before the opening credits on Monday night’s episode of Emmerdale, several viewers noticed an announcement.

Bob Hope, poor Bob Hope, had learned that Wendy Posner, his partner, had been having an affair with Dr. Liam Cavanagh. In the Friday episode, Bob told Bernice Blackstock that he wanted to kill Liam because he was so furious.

At 7:30 p.m., the first episode of the week from the made-up Yorkshire village began, but just before it started, an ITV announcer informed viewers there would be scenes of “medical distress.”

Many followers of soap operas immediately reacted to the announcement on Twitter. We haven’t seen any scenes of hardship recently, Charlotte remarked. [sic]

But who will be in distress, questioned Lydia? Doreen then said, “Scenes of medical distress? I really hope Liam and Wendy aren’t acting like physicians and nurses once more.

The upsetting images were shown later, when a furious Bob approached Liam after seeing him with Wendy and believing their relationship was still going strong. Bob threw a football towards Liam, but as soon as Bob had a heart attack, the villagers began to fear.

Bob’s life was actually spared by Liam’s quick response.
