Jake Wood, a former EastEnders actor, has set his sights on his next project.
The Max Branning star, who departed the BBC serial in February 2021 after joining the cast in June 2006, took to Twitter on Thursday (June 10) to announce his future participation in the forthcoming play 2:22 A Ghost Story.
When the performance premieres on August 3 at London’s Nol Coward Theatre, Wood will be joined on stage by Lily Allen, Hadley Fraser (Holby City), and Julia Chan (Katy Keene).
The riveting new thriller, which is set to run for 11 weeks and was written by Danny Robins and directed by Matthew Dunster, follows Jenny as she tries to persuade her skeptical husband Sam that their new home is haunted.
When the couple invites two friends over for dinner one night, they begin to argue about Jenny’s supernatural concerns. In order to address the problem, the quartet agrees to remain up till the early hours of the morning to see any strange occurrences.
Allen, who will be making her stage debut in the show, said in a statement, “I am so delighted to begin to work on this play.”
“Connecting with a group of people and the unpredictability of whatever occurs on the night has always been the most exciting aspects of my work for me.
“Stepping into this play feels like a logical continuation of that, and it gives me the best of both worlds.
“I get to explore adult subject matter, be a woman with a genuine point of view, and demonstrate to West End audiences how much I enjoy live performance and being in front of a crowd. I’m looking forward to it.”
