Duggie Brown dead: Coronation Street actor and comedian dies aged 82

82 years old is the passing age of Duggie Brown.

After a successful career in comedy, the renowned actor played Ted Spear in the ITV serial earlier this year.

He is the brother of actor and singer Lynne Perrie, who portrayed Ivy Tilsley on Corrie for 23 years from 1971 to 1994. The beloved star was also well remembered for his work on The Comedians.

Sadly, Lynne passed away in 2006 at the age of 74 after a stroke.

The comedian Duggie is well known for his comic routines, which he has showcased on a number of entertainment programs, including The Good Old Days.

In addition to appearing as a lead on The Glamour Girls and House of Cards, he has performed in a number of stage productions.

His minor role in Corrie served as the catalyst for a major plot line for Faye and Emma, who agreed to keep his death a secret in order to avoid going to jail.

Ted, played by Duggie on Coronation Street, was killed by Faye Windass’ vehicle as he was returning from a New Year’s Eve party.

After the shock, his character appeared to be in good spirits, but he was subsequently discovered dead in his armchair.

Following the tragic news of Duggie’s passing, both his celebrity friends and admirers have flocked to honor the talented actor.

After the actor passed away, Tommy Cannon, one half of the legendary duo Cannon and Ball, paid tribute to him.

In numerous long-running television serials over the years, such as Crown Court, The Cuckoo Waltz, All Creatures Great and Small, The Bill, Minder, Last of the Summer Wine, and Peak Practice, Duggie has appeared in one-off roles.

Along with Ted Rogers and Chris Emmett, the actor served as one of the game show’s original hosts for 3-2-1.

He frequently served as team captain on Cryer’s Crackers, Barry Cryer’s news game show, from 1994 to 1996.
