Today’s episodes of Coronation Street and EastEnders had some important news to share with their audiences, but it turned out to be a giant April Fools joke.
Both competing soaps teased their social media followers today when they revealed their plans for the coming months, with Corrie revealing their fresh new Virtual Assistant.
EastEnders also teased a special one-off musical episode later this year, but it turned out to be a major April Fools joke, leaving its fans heartbroken as they hoped it would be true.
At 12 a.m., Corrie was the first to announce the introduction of their new product.

They also posted a video of the cast learning how to use the “new” Cobble device.

“The ‘new device’ was asked a variety of questions by the soap stars, with Sally Dynevor (who plays Sally Metcalfe) supplying the voice for the ‘new device.’
Fans acknowledged to being deceived by the amusing comedy, while others immediately recognized it as a spoof.

In other news, EastEnders announced a musical episode as a practical joke on their social media following.
“Later this year, #EastEnders will be the first British soap to broadcast an hour-long musical episode,” they said.
“We’re happy to be able to showcase the musical abilities of our cast, as well as weave some fantastic songs into our characters’ journeys,” said EastEnders producer Alf Roolip.
Despite the fact that it was all a giant April Fools’ joke, some fans were hoping it was true.

Fans admitted it would have been a fantastic idea in the end once they revealed it was all a prank.
