Coronation Street’s Evelyn feels rejected as Tyrone gives lying Cassie second chance

In tonight’s (7th September) episode of Coronation Street, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) vacated Tyrone Dobbs’s (Alan Halsall) house because he preferred his mother Cassie (Claire Sweeney) to her.

After Cassie overdosed on drugs and was discovered by Tyrone’s daughter Hope (Isabella Flanagan), Tyrone asked Cassie to leave earlier in the week.

Tyrone visited his mother in the apartment, where she was being watched over by another addict, Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine), as the ITV soap opera went on.

When Cassie overheard Abi telling Ty that she was most likely to relapse, she invited her son to attend Abi’s addiction support group, and he showed up at the last minute.

Cassie made the decision to speak after Abi discussed her own healing.

Tyrone listened as Cassie recalled how, as a teenager, her mother Evelyn had expelled her from the family home, forcing Cassie to turn to prostitution in order to survive.

Ty was devastated for Cassie and repulsed by Evelyn, but viewers were aware that Cassie was exaggerating because Evelyn had in fact made multiple previous attempts to assist Cassie.

Even though Ty had Hope and Ruby (Billie Naylor) to consider, he chose to let Cassie to move back in despite Abi’s pleadings for him to realize that Evelyn was not the bad guy in the situation.

as Evelyn did arrive, she was shocked. However, as Tyrone treated his grandmother with contempt and refused to clarify what Cassie had told him, Evelyn was only too aware that there had to be some fabrications going on.

Tyrone’s acceptance of Evelyn’s request to be alone in the precinct flat wounded her feelings because she knew they had reached a turning point.

Will he ultimately regret picking Cassie over Evelyn? How do you think his wife Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) will respond?
