Coronation Street theory: Anna Windass to return as Gary confesses his deadly secrets
When she killed Pat Phelan in 2018 and ended his reign of terror, Anna was last seen on Coronation Street.

She managed to get away with murder after that, something she and her son Gary seem to have in common, so she has avoided the cobbles ever since.
After Wednesday night’s ITV soap opera episode, Gary might be poised to reveal all of his secrets, but will his mother’s visit make him reconsider speaking the truth?
Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) was still being held captive in the midweek episode of the drama by a former accomplice of Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).
Gary was told that Kelly could return if he brought £50,000, which the businessman was aware Gary didn’t have.
Gary was able to gather $24,500 after depleting all of his savings and using the remaining funds Rick had given him after Rick was killed.
Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) was concerned that her husband was playing with fire by not having the whole amount because this was far from adequate.
The assassin handed the money to Rick’s partner when they were face to face, hoping it would be sufficient to liberate Kelly.
It wasn’t, therefore Gary’s next best course of action was to find the tracker he had placed in the girl’s luggage before she vanished.
He tracked her down to the cellar where she was being held, but before he could liberate her, Rick’s associate knocked him out.
As time passed and the situation grew more perilous, Gary regained consciousness and got into a fight with Kelly’s captor.
The two men were angry with one another, throwing punches and kicking one other, but Gary appeared to be planning another murder.
Kelly got involved and convinced her surrogate father to quit since she didn’t want to lose him either.
Gary paused after hearing the child’s cries and turned around to head back to Weatherfield to make sure Kelly was okay.
Gary and Kelly decided to take a shower after lying to Maria about how they both got away, but the murderer had to make a call.
When Kelly returned to the room and discovered the businessman on the phone with someone, it turned out that person was Anna.
Gary clarified, “That was my mum,” but no further words were exchanged on Anna as the topic of conversation shifted to Kelly’s concern that the police would find out about their lies.
Even though it was only a passing remark, it might be a hint that Anna will return to the program since Gary might call her again to reveal his most sinister secrets.
Gary reasoned that his mother would understand him because she killed Phelan in self-defense, just as he killed Rick.
To try and convince her son that he is not the evil person he portrays himself to be, Anna could return to the cobbles.
Unable to struggle with the guilt as more people are getting wounded, Gary may inform his mother he is going to report himself to the police.

Anna would have to exert every effort to prevent her son from doing this because she is aware that a jury would not share her opinion.
Anna might stay on board as she, Gary, and Maria come up with a strategy to relieve the murderer of his guilt because she is unable to trust her son telling the police what happened.
Debbie, the actress who played Anna, has spoken out about the possibility of a future return to the show.
The soap star said: “I don’t know, I don’t think so” as she walked out. Never rule anything out, but I’m not sure.
“It was a fantastic job, and I really enjoyed it. I wanted to leave, but I didn’t. I had several reasons for leaving, and I enjoyed returning.
She continued, “So I don’t know,” in an interview with Digital Spy.
Mikey, the actor who plays Gary, appears eager to have his on-screen mother return to the set, even for a brief period of time.
In 2019, Mikey expressed his desire for Anna Windass to return to the screen in an interview with Express.co.uk and other media.
“Last week, I texted the actress Debbie Rush who played her. I believe she is occupied and off doing other things at the moment, but I did tell her to come back.
