Matilda left the cobbles after three years as Summer Spellman last year.
Coronation Street Matilda Freeman, a former Coronation Street actress, has gone out for the first time about her sexuality.
After fans queried her about her sexuality during a Q&A session, Matilda – who portrayed Summer Spellman for three years – revealed on Instagram that she was bisexual.
The young actress went on to thank fans for their words of love and support, noting that it “means the world” to her that they responded in such a positive way.
“Can I just say thank you for all the love and support I’ve got since announcing my sexuality on social media,” Matilda continued? “I wasn’t expecting that, and it means the world to me; you people are incredible. I adore all of you.”
Matilda, who departed Coronation Street in 2020, also discussed her reasons for leaving the ITV serial, revealing that she wanted to focus on other projects.
Harriet Bibby was cast in the part of Summer Spellman, which was revealed in October of last year.
Matilda paid respect to her “second family” on Corrie at the time, including the cast, staff, and viewers who had all backed her up during her tenure on the show.
“I thought it was time for a change after three and a half wonderful years, and I’m pleased to be starting that next chapter with a new career,” she said in a statement.
ITV’s Coronation Street will begin airing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7.30 p.m. next week.
