Coronation Street star Martin Hancock calls for classic character to return

Martin Hancock, better known as Spider or Geoffrey Nugent, recently returned to Coronation Street.

Sadly for her, the classic character is working as an undercover police officer with DS Swain, who is suspicious about the circumstances surrounding Imran’s death. The classic character has reconnected with his former flame Toyah, and she trusted him enough to open up about wanting to kill husband Imran in the car accident.

Since Spider is back, it seems possible that more Corrie favorites will follow suit. Hancock identified the person he would most like to welcome back when he spoke to Inside Soap magazine.

“Working with Kevin Kennedy, who portrayed Curly, was a blast. You could never stop laughing if you were fortunate enough to have scenes with him. It would therefore be nice to have him back.

Hancock is well-known outside of Corrie for his role as Reg Lund in Holby City. He remarked of the show, which ended earlier this year, “That was a wonderful job, you do lots of heavy serious things on camera, but off camera, everyone’s messing around. When we were filming with Ade Edmondson (who played Abra Durant), I believe it was one of my favorite scenes.

“The thought of Spider from Coronation Street and Vyvyan from The Young Ones operating on someone’s heart while we were both performing surgery struck me as strange. The prosthetics were another aspect of it that I adored; if you enjoyed gore, they were great!”
