Could this be Kelly Neelan’s last day on the fabled Coronation Street cobbles?

This week, it was revealed that Millie Gibson, who has played the beloved Corrie character for the past three years, will be leaving the soap opera due to a “explosive” plot line that may end with her being killed off.

And poor Kelly has experienced plenty of drama already; since being on our screens, she has been homeless, orphaned, and most recently kidnapped.

The 18-year-old actress, who earlier this year won a British Soap Award for Best Young Performer, will say goodbye to the cobbles this Autumn.

Fans will, however, be left to speculate as to whether she will depart Weatherfield once they learn that Gary Windass murdered her loanshark father Rick Neelan.

The dying Laura Neelan, played by Kel Allen, was given the blame for the murder by Gary, but is the truth about to be revealed?

Last month, Millie said: “I think she tries to find any way she can to make her dad’s work look good.

“She regularly referred to the money as “filthy blood money” when it was given to her by him.

Therefore, in my opinion, it’s her means of making up for all the wrongs her dad did.

Fans are upset by Millie’s choice to quit, and many of them have taken to Reddit to voice their anger.

One wrote: “It’s very painful to see that. While she had only been a part of the show for three years, she still had a lot of room for character growth. Her portrayal of Laura’s death in the sequence made me cry.”
