Curtis is going to leave a lasting impact on Emma… as well as Steve
There are spoilers ahead for Coronation Street.
Next week, a new face will grace the cobblestones on Coronation Street, and fans of Ackley Bridge may recognize him.
Curtis will be played by Sam Retford, who previously portrayed Cory Wilson in the Channel 4 drama. Emma Brooker’s life is about to be a little more exciting — and maybe romantic – with his appearance on the cobblestones.
Emma (Alexandra Mardell) is overjoyed when good-looking Curtis shows up at the Rovers while she’s working and offers to help her move some barrels into the cellar in scenes that will run next week.
When Emma’s father, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), discovers Emma and Curtis sharing a drink, he is less than impressed. That’s because he recognizes Curtis as the ‘hooligan’ who recently knocked him off his bike, an act that led Steve to finish last in a charity fundraising event.
When Steve’s teenage daughter Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) hesitantly implies that Steve is becoming a bit too preoccupied with his fundraising and expresses her fears that he may be on the verge of another breakdown, Steve realizes that Amy may be right.
Steve informs Emma that he intends to devote more time to his family in the future. Steve is touched by Emma’s suggestion to her father that they do some fundraising together.
Later in the week, Steve tells Emma that he wants to make up with Curtis after his initial contempt. Steve approaches Curtis and apologizes for his past actions.
Curtis explains that he has a job interview at the Bistro, and Steve offers to give him some suggestions before putting him through a fake interview with Emma. Curtis soon confesses that he’s studying to be a doctor, impressing both Emma and Steve.
Later, an enthusiastic Curtis walks into the Rovers and informs a pleased Emma and Steve that he has been awarded the Bistro position owing to their assistance.
He seemed to be planning to stay awhile. Are Emma and Curtis on the verge of falling in love?
These scenes will run on ITV on Monday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 26 at 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm,
