Coronation Street casts former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star Paul Opacic in new role

Ex Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor Paul Opacic has been cast in Coronation Street.

Later this month, the actor will begin shooting as Corey Brent’s wealthy businessman father Stefan on the ITV soap (via The Sun).

Paul was best known for his role as Steve Marchant in Emmerdale, which he played from 1993 to 1999. He was most recently seen in Hollyoaks, where he played Carl Costello from 2010 to 2018.

Stefan (Opacic) will go up against Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) over Corey (Maximus Evans) and Asha Alahan’s rekindling of their relationship in scenes that will air later this month.

Following the disastrous breakup of her relationship with Nina Lucas (Mollie G) in recent episodes, Asha (Tanisha Gorey) has returned to her ex-boyfriend.

As Asha moves in with Corey, things will get worse for her, with Stefan purchasing Nick Tilsley and Leanne Battersby’s apartment for his son and Asha to live in, much to Dev’s chagrin.

Paul last appeared on screen in 2018, when he returned to Hollyoaks for a two-episode guest appearance after leaving the show.
