Following Craig Reed’s (Ben Addis) rape of Lydia the following week, Lydia experiences difficulties.

You can read more about Lydia’s decision to keep her attack a secret from her loved ones here. According to Star Blick, Lydia will continue to do so in order to protect them.

The actress said of her first impressions of the plot: “My first reaction was, ‘Please don’t do this to Lydia, please!'” As an actor, I struggled because it’s a narrative that needs to be told and I felt extremely protective of her and the character.

Then there are the consequences for the character of this dreadful event happening to someone you are so close to, she continued.

A story meeting with Jane was mentioned in an email that James Hooton and I received a few weeks later. I therefore had some preparation; James, who plays Sam, was completely unprepared.

So, James may have assumed Lydia was about to have an extramarital affair when Jane began to narrate the narrative as we all went up to the office.

Oh, I see where this is headed, he was saying, and he appeared to be shaking his head.

I simply refrained from speaking, thinking, “You really don’t, James!” When Jane added, “And then Craig rapes Lydia,” the two of us responded as follows: It sort of sinks in; it’s shocking to hear.

“When I looked at James, he was just shaking his head once more and saying, ‘I didn’t expect that.'” Our eyes were both wet with tears. It was a tremendously powerful, emotional response—certainly the most powerful one I’ve ever had to a possible tale.
